Public Health Agency of Canada
to learn more about PHAC
The Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) provides long term funding to community coalitions to deliver programs that address the health and development of children (0 - 6 years) who are living in conditions of risk. It recognizes that communities have the ability to identfy and respond to the needs of children and places a strong emphasis to partnerships and community capacity building.

Nova Scotia Department of Community Services (DCS)
The Parenting Journey is a home visiting program designed to deliver supports to families with children 3-16 years that are experiencing challenges. This is currently a demonstration project. Information gathered during this period will be used to build stronger and more meaningful programs for families.
Core funding to support:
Early Learning and Language provides language development training for those working in the world of Early Childhood Development. The program uses the well known Hanen training, Learning Language and Loving It and Teacher Talk. Programs that increase language development awareness, such as You Make the Difference, are offered to parents and caregivers.
Parent Support and Education - numerous parent support and education programs are offered throughout the three counties. Family focused outreach programs are offered through this funding.

Service Canada
The Summer Student Employment Program provides funding for students to facilitate the Transition to School Program in Lunenburg and Queens Counties each summer.

Nova Scotia Economic Development, Community and Rural Development
This program provides a portion of funding for one summer student position therefore enabling the Transition to School Program to be offered throughout Shelburne County.

South Shore Regional School Board
provides funding for the Transition to School Program in Lunenburg and Queens County. They open the doors to their elementary schools and provide supports and services as required.

South Shore Regional School Board and the SSFRA partner in the maintenance and delivery of the Transition to School
program. Staff of the SSRSB are members of Family Resource based committees such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
Committee and assist in training for teachers. The SSRSB and the SSFRA share, whenever possible, staff training opportunities and resources.
